The Purpose of Life Is Not to be Happy

“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Back to Creating.

I’ve been on a long design hiatus. We’ve got this whole deal with me moving cities, then moving again once I got to my new city, all while starting college and my, oh my, the transitions! Well! Enough of that. I finally got set up with my Wacom tablet and I’m equipped with enough time alone to get creating.

The Truth About the Truth

“The truth is like a lion. You don’t have to defend it. Let it loose. It will defend itself.” – St. Augustine

Somewhere Along The Line

Somewhere along the line, it seems as if modern society began to misinterpret what it means to “be yourself”. Most tween/teens/young assume that odd/weird/different behavior is someone being themselves. Thus began this trend of people trying to be quirky and different for the sake of being seen as quirky or different.
However, being different is not synonymous with being yourself.

To This Day

To This Day is a project based on the poem “To This Day” by spoken word artist, Shane Koyczan. It was created to explore the extensive and continual effects that bullying has on an individual.

The video is powerful, to say the least. I found it to be captivating, thought-provoking, and inspirational.

‘Sweater Weather’ by The Neighbourhood (Little Daylight Remix)

I love  ‘Sweater Weather’ by The Neighbourhood. It’s definitely one of my top summer jams. So, when I looked them up on Soundcloud (which I often do to artists), I found this jewel. This remix by Little Daylights is fantastic, in my opinion. Plus, the free download for this song is on The Neighbourhood’s Soundcloud page (or right next to the title down there) .

The Interface

“19th century culture was defined by the novel, 20th century culture by cinema. The culture of the 21st century will be defined by the interface.”

-Lev Manovich

To the artist is sometimes granted a sudden, transient insight which serves in this matter for experience. A flash, and where previously the brain held a dead fact, the soul grasps a living truth! At moments, we are all artists.

– Arnold Bennett
